How can I stop recieving emails from my friends on the network?
I'm very happy to agree to make friends on the network but I don't really want to keep recieving emails about thier products and services and asking me to join them in a variety of places around the web. Is there any way I can prevent this from happening without losing them as a friend?
I tend to look at my friends on networks as people whose profiles,comments and blogs that I can follow but I really do prefer to do this when I'm on line on the network.

I'm so sorry if you have been recieving unwanted emails,especially those selling thie products or inviting you elsewhere.
However it is very simple to remedy...
Just click on the person's profile and underneath their profile picture you can see "block messages"
It is a shame that people on social networks make friends just to do this kind of thing but please understand that most of us ( before we knew "the art of good social networking") have probably been guilty of doing the same. And many are still in that learning curve too! I'm sure they may not realise how distracting they might be for you.
Another thing you might want to do is to check out the persons profile thoroughly before agreeing to be a friend. Ask yourself....Am I really interested in this person? How will our mutual friendship be of benefit? Can I help them? Can they help me? Who might they know?
In general tho "Pledging for Change" can boast lots of sincere and ethical members.
I'm also not entirely sure about this but.... you could send their messages into your email spam folder which still gives you the opportunity to read messages from them when you are on Pledging for Change.
