It's heartwarming to know that you are doing this work, David. It must be devastating to see the effect of dying rivers. I'm grateful that you and others are working toward a better, brighter future. Thank you for sharing this information. I hope you have many Share Program members join to help you raise funds for this important effort.

Grassroots Communities in Uganda rely heavily on natural resources for their well-being and ultimate survival. Medicinal Plants for Health care, Rivers and Wetlands for Water, forests for wood and building materials.. the list is endless. Every forest that is cleared is a living pharmacy gone that would support thousands of people. The drying rivers that we are experiencing now (eg Bukoola in Rakai District) are have made poor communities to teeter on the edge of disaster. Because of climate Change, changes in habitats are also threatening plants and animal species that have been attracting tourists to bring in revenue to support social services for the poor communities.

Nature Palace Foundation is trying to address some of these critical issues through the first community botanic garden in the country that is endeavoring to conserve plants resources that are essential to local communities as medicine and food. We are also responding to conservation of wetland resources and their biodiversity (threatened bird and animal species) through pro-poor community Eco-tourism that seeks to promote community participation and benefit sharing as incentives for sustainable conservation of the resources. We have launched a campaign to rehabilitate one of the dying rivers (river Bukoola) that supports a number of communities but currently succumbing to over-burden and miss-use.

Everything started to Change..... The World is changing. People are changing. And business has changed... Every business you find in our ethical directory is a giving business....giving back to Our Planet by working in the Spirit of Harmony with Earth. ...Every member on Pledging for Change is here because they believe in Giving Back in the Spirit of Harmony with Our Planet

Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can. -- John Wesley, "Letters of John Wesley"

Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centres of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. -- Robert F. Kennedy
