We have recently installed a woodburner (multi fuel stove) into the dining room area of our house and re-instated the vitorian fireplace ion the front lounge area. The room is knocked through and so is really big now 13' x 27'.
With considerations for climate change we are burning wood from managed supplies and I think we are reasonably happy that it is described as carbon neutral.
However I have seen some interesting debate on energy sources and although I believe burning wood and using electricity which is created by hydro or wind farms or solar has to be the way forward I can never understand those who think that today's houses that do not have gas central heating installed are worth much less on the open market.
I don't know if anyone watches these TV programs like "Under the Hammer" when houses are sold at auction and we can view the renovation process from start to finish with the ultimate profits made for the final sale or letting. Have you noticed how the presenters and almost every single person doing the renovations insist on having gas central heating installed?
I just feel it's about time somebody stood up for alternative energy supplies such as carbon neutral woodburning and clean electricity.
